FINGAL STUDENT WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Winners from Coolmine and Swords celebrating

Fingal’s youngest entrepreneurs were celebrating on Friday last, as the winners of the Fingal Student Enterprise Awards were announced in front of 350 invited guests at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown.
In all, forty three student enterprises from fifteen secondary schools and eleven primary schools took centre stage at the County Final, which is organised by the Fingal County Enterprise Board.
Supported by GameStop, Fingal County Council, County Dublin VEC and the Blanchardstown Centre, over 800 local students have been researching and running their own businesses in the Student Enterprise Programme since last September. 220 students competed at the County Final at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown, for a share of the €10,000 prize fund.
In the secondary schools competition, the Junior Category was won by ‘Credit Crunch Coupons’ from Coolmine Community School with ‘J&D Butt Box’ from Skerries Community College taking the runner-up prize. The Intermediate Category was won by Planet Dood and Board of Wisdom claimed the runner-up prize, both coming from Colaiste Choilm in Swords. In the Senior Category, Eco Eggs from Castleknock College came runner-up with Trinket Charms from Loreto Secondary School in Swords claiming first prize, along with an educational trip to Barcelona, sponsored by Fingal County Council.
The Enterprising School Spirit Award for secondary schools, which was presented by the Chairperson of the Fingal County Enterprise Board, Joe Harford, was presented to Hartstown Community School. Harford also presented the Enterprising School Spirit Award for primary schools, which went to St. Cronan’s National School in Swords.
Oisin Geoghegan, C.E.O. of Fingal County Enterprise Board, presented the Best Display Award for primary schools, which went to St. Mochta’s National School in Clonsilla,. “I’d like to pay tribute to our students, their teachers and principals here at our County Final,” he said. “As Fingal’s youngest citizens have shown, you’re never too young to start thinking and acting entrepreneurially,” he said.
Tanya McDonald, Marketing Managing with GameStop, helped to present the secondary school awards, saying: “GameStop are proud to be associated with this exciting programme. The wealth of talent here today and the innovation from these students is inspirational".
The fifteen secondary schools which competed at this year’s County Final were: Colaiste Choilm (Swords), Loreto Secondary School (Swords), St. Fintan’s High School, ( Sutton) Portmarnock Community School, Malahide Community School, Loreto Secondary School (Balbriggan), St. Mary’s (Baldoyle), Sutton Park School, Skerries Community College and St. Joseph’s (Rush), Castleknock Community College, Coolmine Community School, Castleknock College, Hartstown Community School and Blakestown Community School,
The eleven primary schools were: St. Catherine’s (Rush), Scoil Realt Na Mara (Skerries), Balbriggan Educate Together, Scoil Phradraic Na Cailini (Donabate), Donabate & Portrane Educate Together, St George’s (Balbriggan), Castaheany Educate Together (Ongar), St. Cronan’s (Brackenstown, Swords) Huntstown National School, St. Mochta’s National School and Mulhuddart National School.
The three main category winners in the secondary schools competition have been chosen to represent Fingal at the National Student Enterprise Awards in Croke Park in April and every participating school was presented with a GameStop Enterprise Grant
