(1). The Truth About What Blogs Can (and Can't) Do For Your Business (Thomas Nelson, 2007) by Robert W. Bly (1). Blogging has been surrounded by an abundance of hype in the last few years. But this book challenges the assertion that for your business to succeed, you have to maintain a blog. Robert Bly takes a scrutinizing look at the drawbacks and potential benefits of blogs and admits he's received criticism for his skeptical approach.
(2). Coolhunting: Chasing Down the Next Big Thing (AMACOM, 2007) by Peter Gloor and Scott Cooper
Are you a trendsetter or a trend-follower? If you're the latter, Coolhunting aims to change that. Authors Peter Gloor and Scott Cooper say anyone can anticipate the next big trend before it launches, regardless of their coolness quotient.
(3). "That’ll Never Work…” by KPMG’s Michael Gaffney and Colin O’Brien is a collection of twelve stories of innovation, risk-taking, heartbreak and ultimate success. The very personal accounts featured in the book provide an insight into the world of entrepreneurship - what worked, what didn’t and how twelve entrepreneurs eventually achieved success. The book - a must read for budding entrepreneurs, business students and anyone with an interest in Irish business, is available at Easons, Hughes & Hughes and all good bookshops nationwide.
(4). ENDA O’COINEEN’S recent update of his book The Unsinkable Entrepreneur was timed nicely to coincide with the Volvo Ocean Race’s stopover in Galway, which he helped to negotiate. It also shed some light on Irish entrepreneur Seán Melly, who is eyeing up a bid for Eircom with the backing of JPMorgan.
(5). Golden Apples by Bill Cullen - legendary head of Renault Ireland, went from selling apples on the streets of Dublin to owning a company with an annual turnover of over €350 million. His first book 'Its a long way from Penny Apples' was an outstanding success and in Golden Apples he condenses his advice on achieving into SIX SIMPLE STEPS TO SUCCESS.
(6). The Art of the Start: The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for Anyone Starting Anything by Guy Kawasaki - This book gives new entrepreneurs an overview of topics they might need to understand.
